My cars a STi6....

Both of the bearings (roller taper type) on the output shaft to the rear diff have gone (one totally lol). Gearboxes in these cars are totaly new ground for me so i need a bit of help..

Are the 5 speed boxes in these cars the same as the uk cars apart from the ratio's?? (i'm imagining they are not but just checking)

What does the scooby service manual say about the pre loads on these bearings? asking because they use spacer washers..

How common is it for the bearings that support the two main shafts that hold all the gears to slip in the gearbox casting housing? Asking because one has been slipping and I want to know if its a common problem.

I have been informed by www.apiengines.com that the bearings in the UK and STi versions gearboes are the same.
