Default JDM ECU NEED HELP

I just performed an engine swap with a JDM STi engine that came with an aftermarket Prova ecu. The car runs fine, but I would like to be able to tune the car. Does anyone know what I need or who to contact in order to be able to tune the ecu. Thanks.

Tell us the model and year of your engine and the part number on the lid of the ECU and that will help a lot.

The engine model is EJ20G DW5PE from a MY95/96 STi V2. I don't have the part number for the ecu. Is there a way I can find it?

I figured that much, but where is the ecu located? I don't want to have to go tearing through my car to find it.

Sorry, I assumed that if you'd performed an engine & ECU swap, you would know where the ECU was ;-) It's under the carpet and kick plate in the passenger footwell.

Prova chip various standard ECUs, so the chances are that you can get the ECU rechipped with other tuning. I.e. Depend on your answer to the ECU model question, you may or may not have an aftermarket ECU - it may be an OEM ECU with a Prova chip, or it may be a completely new ECU. If in doubt, take a photo of the ECU board, and plenty of people on here will be able to suggest who can tune it after that.

If it's a chipped standard ECU, a ScoobyECU chip will fit inside it. A couple of guys on here sell them, and will provide either a custom map or an off-the-shelf one for about £100 (which works well anyway). If it's an aftermarket one, you could change it for a Link or the like.
