Next Mod??
Hi all, i have MY97 uk turbo saloon. i have a full de-cat hayward and scott system. i am looking to do my next mod to gain bhp. Any ideas? i was thinking uprating the intercooler and placing it in front bumper, is this a good idea or bad one? where can you get decent uprated intercoolers from?

Have you done the decat downpipe?
You can pick up a front mount for decent money now but someone who's fitted one of these to a standard td04 would have to answer your query.
But dont forget about monitoring your car before going any further with mods.
If you haven't already get a boost gauge and afr gauge and not forgetting knocklink then you'll be about £220 out of pocket just for them first!!
I just changed my slanty I/C to an my99 and its a little rocket ship now

I don't think a TD04 would benefit from a FMIC - [scotty mode on]It hasn't got the power[/scotty off] - Probably suffer from Major Lag.
If you've not de-catted the Downpipe, thats defo next. I'd also agree with the boost gauge/afr/knocklink comment -
My 98 UK Turbo has full de-cat, K+N panel filter, samco hoses and I've just had the Power Engineering Phase 2 kit (97 and 98 ECUs are same - require daughter board to remap) - Now showing 281 BHP and nice flatish 262 lbs/feet torque curve.
I did run a dawes last year, which is LOTS cheaper than the remap - but it isn't quite as good, but if budget is tight I'd recommend it - so long as you have the gauges and DON't go mad with the boost (should be OK if you have standard Fuel Cut)

Nick - take a pill man, I'm sure nobody meant any offence ...
You are quite right to point out the I/C increase potential - as can be seen on Rich Wilds car, it certainly can help (NOT that I'm saying all his power comes from a larger I/C)...
Certainly could be worth increasing the TMIC by replacing it with a better one - I've used the tilt kit on mine and will be making a splitter for it soon..
