Will a UK MY94 gearbox fit in a UK MY98 ??? Ratios ???
I have just found that a gearbox bearing has gone t1ts up on my UK MY98. quoted cost of repair is around £400 - £600
I have been offered a Gearbox from a UK MY94 for £100. Will it fit and are the ratios the same ?
Cheers in advance

Different diffs mate. The WRX would be using a 4.1 diff wheareas the UK would be using a 3.9 diff. You need a UK box mate..
edit: Oops sorry, they're the same. I keep assuming its a WRX import.

NM,
isn't £100 a little cheap for the other box??? i'm no expert and may have paid a little over, but when i put a UK box & rear diff in my WRX I paid £600+ for the parts alone (inc prop shaft). surely a decent working box is worth more.
it may be ok, but you could get them to open it up and check for evidence of damage (metal bits etc in the oil) before you commit. the first one i was supplied was worse than the knackered one out of my car when TSL opened it up... so definitely check its condition as best you can first. may also be worth asking about the history of the donor car.

Hi Kev
No worries about the box, my mate has a few damaged repairable Scoobies which he buys, repairs, races or sells on to buy another one. What has happened one has ended up as a donor car and this is the car that the box is from. One he is converting into a 2.5ltr lump.
I am looking into getting my box repaired its just the cost atm. So I was intending to use the box on the short term until funds allow the original to be fixed.
Cheers
