Default Anyone else had this problem?

Hi all

I am a relative newby to the wonderful world of scoobies, and need some advice with the following problem.

CEL light popped on back in the summer, checked on this forum for a solution. Some useful advice on here.
Ran the little diagnostic test which indicated the MAF sensor and the idle sensor at fault. Took it back to the garage who replaced the MAF Sensor and supposedly the Idle sensor.

Little red light kept coming back on!

Ran diagnostic again and showed that idle sensor was still playing up. Noticed that when you dropped down from say 80mph to 30mph the light would come on. If you then try to accelerate it would hesitate badly. If the clutch is dipped the revs drop down to idling, the light would go out and back to normal performance.
Contacted Gatwick Subaru about the a new idle sensor and the parts guy said 'a what?'.

Question therefore is 'is the idle sensor the correct terminology?' what is it? where is it? and where can i get one?

If anyone can assist, and possibly show me a piccy, then it would be much appreciated

ps. Classic Jap WRX Import

take it easy

Idle Speed Control Valve is *I think* what you are talking about.

Thumbs up

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

Went up to Haven Motors near Horsham, (deal in grey imports) and spoke with a very helpful mechanic. He reckons that my waste gate solenoid is at fault and just needs a clean out. As my Speedo isn't working, he reckons thats why the CEL is coming on, as the ECU won't know what speed the car is doing. It was limited when i bought it, but when the speedo went it kinda became unrestricted. Mechanic says i need to fix speedo and then get the bypass done and also convert the clocks etc to read MPH.

Does anyone know where i can get the limiter bypass sorted?

Would be appreciated.

ps. Garage had a beautiful 22B in the showroom £30K

Once again thanks for the help

Wastegate Solenoid...? I thought it was all mechanical.

Boost control solenoid maybe?

I thought wastegate solenoid and boost control solenoid are different names for the same thing...?
