Dodgy Gearbox?

When accelerating hard in 3rd gear (only third gear), I can feel a tiny rhythmic tapping though the steering wheel. It's very subtle, like going over tiny rumble strips.
Is my gearbox on the way out??

on scoobs there is a large washer around third gear to stop u over shooting it. now all the gear selectors are graded to adjust how far in to each gear you can go. on some scoobs i have seen that the third gear selecter goes to far in to gear hits the washer and just pushes it so it touches second gear on the layshaft this could be the snicking u are feelin

Can't remember the cause for this Darren, but I saaw another very local 22B with the same (or very similar) complaint only a few months ago... he ended up with a snapped selector fork so be careful, they are delicate.

Hi Scooby boy just wondered if you could clear up what is going on with my gearbox.
If i am accelerating in say fourth and i need to stop therefore pressing the clutch sometimes the gearstick will stick solid in gear and the only way to get it out of gear is either to bang the gearstick or double pump the clutch? Also if i am doing a standing start when i go for second the clutch pedal will stay near the floor and it seems as though the gearbox gets really tight and hard to select gears?
Any ideas with at least the first querie as it seems to happen alot.
Cheers

steve 170 you can live with it iv seen somw where the washer has been hit by the hub so many times that it has been chewed up by the gears . you cant over shoot it coz the washer is then the same size as third gear and the teeth cant slide past it. the owners have never said they have noticed any difference so choice is yours.
