Am I OK to put Shell Helix Ultra 5W/40 in a 82500 mile MY97 Sport that has had regular oil changes (Shell Helix 10W/40) every 7500.

I asked woman at Motor Spares shop to get me some specially for my Sport, but she must have bought for Turbo, I didn't notice 'til I got home Sat night!!!

Not too sure about sport but I put 5/40 oil in my turbo a while back and quickly changed it because of the racket the tappets were making. (it didn't sound good at all!!!!!!!)

 

Should be OK in the sport...the oil get's nowhere near as hot as the Turbo does.

Although, that grade is probably better if you do alot of short journeys/cold starts, as it'll be thinner at cold temeratures (the 5 bit).

The hot temperature rating (the 40 bit) is the same as 10/40.
