Red face

I'd just like some opinions as I can't make my mind up.

I have a HKS Hiper muffler and it's bloody loud. I don't know whether to swap it for something tamer or not. And if so, what kind?

I'm torn between:

A) the admiring looks of other petrol heads, the comments of "look at the size of that exhaust", the absolutely awesome noise on full bore and downchange.

and

B) constant dirty looks from old bids at bus stops and other drivers whenever you overtake, complaints from neighbours (even neighbours of people I visit!)

HELP!

Cheers Matt,

You're right I think but you should hear some of the abuse I get. One old bid came and gave me a right bo**ocking in the street outside my girlfriend's house for leaving it ticking over for 1 minute after a blast up there. Shame he was about 65 or I'd have knocked him out.

f**K Them all!!!!! I've got a full Blitz system which is not shy :! Got dirty looks for driving off the throttle! So took the opportunity to nail on the way back past the old biddy just to make a point.

If you like it and it makes you smile that's all that matters!!!

I have the full HKS system

I say sod them all, with the decat down pipe I get nice flames as well.

Bloke next door to me moans sometimes but as I say to him its no louder than a motorbike, PC Plod has never pulled me over for the exhaust.

Why not use the 'if it was being stolen during the night I would hear it when they got it started meaning I could report it stolen & hopfuly get it stopped before it killed an old person' statement when staring straight in to the old g1ts eyes who are complaining.

Taken into account everything that has happened in the recent weeks and said

" Sod it do it while you can, enjoy yourself"

Sensible answer.

Get a baffle - it fits inside the rear can and with standard turbo/ECU in place makes very little, if any difference to performance.

With upgraded ECU/porting etc you don't need the baffle as the car will be much quieter anyway!

Cheers,

Trout

Rich have you thought about the bung you can buy for the Hiper that costs about £40.I've been told it makes it much quieter and is easy to remove when you want to "kick it"

Deep,

I refer you to my post, the one above yours, about 24 hours earlier!

Anyway, I have a Hiper, the bung/baffle only cost me £25, and my comments still apply.

Jeez - what you moaning about.... your exhaust is erm... 'quiet' compared to my monster 'BPM' system - (Yes its now a louder back box than the rusty crap one I had at Well Lane)... so just think how I feel...

I even had to fork out several grand on a sound system to drown the noise.. to no avail though...

Great for really annoying the neighbours at 2am....

Get the bung... you wussy

Trout, sorry did'nt know the baffle was the same as the bung I had heard of.By the way could you give some idea how much quieter the bung makes the Hiper as it is the one recommended to me by BRD but I am concerned about noise levels.Cheers,Deep.

Thanks for all your opinions guys

I already have a BUNG actually, but I hate it as it makes the exhaust look like a standard Ford Fiesta pipe with a 5" trim stuck on. Car sounds like a hairdryer (or Mitsu Evo !!! ) when it's in.

You are all right, **** 'em all! (And cheers Mellow, I'm not THAT old yet m8!! )

What made me finally decide was yesterday, on a full throttle blast up an empty major road (before anyone starts) saw a young lad snogging his (rather tasty) girlfriend on the pavement. He actually STOPPED and turned round to look at what was making the noise then pointed at the car/exhaust admiringly.

His girlfriend smacked him one! I p1seed my sides

Deep,

Tried replying to your email m8, but it keeps bouncing.

I'll try again and if it bounces, I'll reply here.
