Does anyone know where i can get a 1.1 turbo restrictor from ? as i would like to replace the standard 1.2 to get a bit more boost on MY01 Impreza

A Subaru dealer would have the range of available restrictors for all the MY cars or you could use a carb jet, be aware that this could cause the car to overboost.

yep they do carry stock for such problems but they only go up in size not down which is what i want, but if you do know a dealer that has got a 1.1 going please let me know

How do you replace it then? Do you replace the hose with restrictor, or do the restricters come on their own? If they do, how do you get them out of the hose?????????

Just push the restrictor out of the hose and replace with a new one, five minute job !! oh ye got on order a 1.0 restrictor from subaru , going drill it out to 1.1 i hope !!

I tried putting back the original 1.2mm restrictor this afternoon on MY00 PPP/K&N/DP, but it overboosted like a ****** so on stays the 1.3mm which the Subaru dealer drilled out from a 1.2mm when I originally had the PPP put on and it was overboosting. I thought I would try this as I have done a few ECU resets since then with new mods added and thought that any gunk in the piping might have been flushed away by that. Anyway, at least I know I'm getting as much boost as possible. No boost gauge fitted!

bob rawle i work at a dealer and we dont carry stock of restricters. and as far as we know the only way to get hold of them is to buy the relevent turbo with the restricter you want . as for controling over boost none of the cars we look after suffer from it now after subaru brought out the modified solenoid which is the only real way to cure the problem.

Scoobyboy, the said restrictor may not be kept on the shelf but a good Subaru dealer will order it in for you,I dont know about the solenoid but i will find out.
Carlos a larger restrictor will cure overboost as this is how my dealer gets around overboost problems but i havent a clue whats standard size on the sti 4 but your dealer should know.

dowser i dont no wots different bout it but it is still a 2 port but it is resistant to the oil tht can be found in it but if you brought 1 now it would probably be the modded 1

wheelwright we have been down this road with customers we cant get the restricter with out getting the turbo as well but if any one can supply me with a part no. for any restricters i will gladly go and have a quiet word with our parts department about how useless they are

You even get a new restrictor when the PPP is fitted.

The restrictor has its own part number.

Scoobyboy, suggest looking at the Subaru parts cd may help you out on this one, they are all listed from 2,0mm down to 0,8mm. Not all for the Impreza though but what does that matter. Do a search on "restrictor" or probably "orifice".

Guess dealers vary one to the other in their experience etc which may explain why the one you work for has not come across this request before. They only cost a couple of pounds each.

There are only four solenoid part numbers, two three port and two two port, they are all "oil resistant" but no solenoid will work if it gets gummed up. Three ports don't suffer from the restrictor problem. The early two port was a derivative of the early three port, the odd three port was fitted to Sti 4's and 22B's. Later MY99-00 two port is best two port design as its a higher speed item but it is no more capable of working when gunged with oil than any other.

The later two port is not really suitable for use as a replacement for the early two port, when boost control problems occur with any car using a two port and the restrictor fix won't solve it the fix is to change from a two port to a three port.

I ordered my PPP direct from Prodrive and fitted it myself. No restrictor came with it...but then I'm getting mild overboost too

Do you know what size the dealer would put into a my00 if it was suffering as a result of PPP?

I've got a second 1.5mm to try now (but not as a replacement).....soon too, it's getting colder
