On fairly steep hills if you're holding on clutch and then pull away I here a short squeal (only on the odd occasion). This is not accompanied by any clutch burning smell.

And ideas ?

Cheers

Wouldn't imagine this to be the clutch, more likely one of your belts.

I get this too and I've been thinking it was the clutch. Must admit I hadn't considered it being one of the belts.

So, if it were to be one of the belts how much does it cost to have them tightened (or whatever)?

Cheers

I get this aswell on my 95WRX. I think it must be belts as I have a somewhat uprated clutch which doens't feel like it is slipping or anything! Several other people who have heard it think it is one of the belts aswell.

I'm going to get a major service done soon so hopefully they will sort it out then.

Hi guys,

It could actually be your spigot bearing(basically a support for the 1st motion shaft)which is located inthe flywheel.
Usually show up under hill starts/high load situations, seen and heard quite a few with this problem.

Most probably the clutch release bearing (don't know if that's the same thing as the spigot bearing). Mine does exactly the same thing.

I'm going for a non-Subaru clutch soon ('cos it judders like mad) - the release bearing will be replaced at the same time.

Question

Nick,

What clutch are you going for then? And what sort of cost are you looking at (if you don't mind me asking)?

Cheers
