Exhaust and Cats
#1
My 94 WRX saloon failed its MOT on emissions (CO too high). I replaced the Lambda probe but didnt do anything. Im now thinking the cat must be gone. I have several Qs:
1) Is it the cat?,
2) Where do I get one and how much?
3) If I put on a Decat down pipe will the MOT test be different? Will it pass or do I need to go and see "Blind Eric" at the specialist MOT centre?
4) The car has a big bore cat back exhaust, does a standard Scooby have 2 cats? If so mines got one missing.
Cheers. I love my Scooby but this is doing my nut in. Any help will be appreciated.

Im sure theres a thread knocking around somewhere with reference to pre95 imports that apparantly do not need cats on them for the emissions test, you will be being tested with the set up aligned to a car that has cats fitted to it, there are 2 cats on classic scoobs, 1 in the downpipe & 1 in the centre, if you want to buy 1 secondhand, do a search on here for GradeA breakers they will sort you out or put a post in wanted, most people, inc me have there old exhaust in the garage doing nothing so perhaps someone will let you have theres for a small fee.
The most effective of the cats is the 1 in downpipe
