Question

I'm assuming the block the leads go into on top of the inlet manifold is the coil pack for my car?

How can I test it to see if it's OK?
Got a multi meter

Car sometimes hesitates and feels like its running on 3 or holding back.
Reading loads of threads on coil packs but they all seem to be 93-96 related.

Weird, some threads say HT leads after 97 and no coil pack, some say that block is the coil

the block is the coil, its a twin coil block working in wasted spark. Unless you have an earth isolation tester there isn't much you can test, maybe the resistance of the coils.

Why do you think it has gone?

Easiest way to test is swap for known good one

Not sure if it's faulty Paul just want to eliminate it, could be the HT leads then?

Had a similar problem on my Saphire, floored it and it wouldnt rev above 2500rpm, hardly enough power to get the car moving.
Changed the leads and it was fine.
If it is one of my leads, it's on it's way out?

replied on wanted thread.

check the spark by plugging in spark plug on lead and place somewhere on earthed surface (inlet manifold for example). should spark no problem.

If you snap open the throttle to say 25% and it hesitates this can be dodgy leads and such.

leads also need to be reasonably clean, so give them a good clean with rag and light solvent.

OK Paul cheers

So I will actually be able to see the spark hesitating?

Sometimes if I sit with the revs at 2500, it starts alternating between 2500 and 2100.
Sometimes I'll just be driving along and it will feel like it's holding back ever so slightly.
Think the water temp sendsor's OK btw, if I disconnect it with the ignition on the fans come on.
