Question

Myself and Karen ("two-dinners") are looking to buy a 1992-1994 Legacy Turbo, as a decent car for her and as a track car for us both.

Now I'm pretty much up to date with tuning options for the Impreza (Own an MY99), but was wondering how may parts are interchangeable?

I know the wheels share the same offset and PDC, but what about upgrading to late model Impreza four-pot brakes and decent group N discs?

Is the exhaust pattern exactly the same? Or if not, which bits WILL fit?

If anyone can provide any information, I'd be thoroughly grateful.

JCM76 - You've got a Legacy Turbo, just as we want...What's the spec on yours, etc?

Cheers,
Squizz.

Squizz,

As far as I know, pretty much anything that you can do to an Impreza you can do to the Legacy.

Just last week I put some 4pot brakes on that came off a P1.

The spec on mine is:

1992 Legacy Turbo Saloon
K+N induction kit
Full Mongoose exhaust (turbo back)
Superchip
Blitz dump valve
Impreza P1 4pot brake upgrade
MY 99/00 Six spoke gold alloys
MY 94 WRX front seats

I will be posting some photos soon, so keep an eye out.

James

p.s. It is not for sale at the moment, I will be keeping it for another 12 months at least. Check the Auto Trader, there is always 1 or 2 popping up from time to time.

Cheers mate!

That's exactly the kind of stuff I wanted to hear!

That's cool, as I can beg/borrow/steal stuff and get lotsa cheap 2nd hand bits.

I seem to think the suspension is different though, and will require bespoke Legacy struts, etc.

You really will have to make it to the next Worcester/Hereford meet. Otherwise, I'd love to have a look at your motor if you fancy a meet on neutral ground somewhere?

Many thanks,
Squizz.

I will try my best to get to the next Worcester meet, I came to the one way back in January but everyone had gone by the time I got there.

You'll have to keep me informed on the cheap parts front

James

p.s. were you at the 'Middle Bell' last week?
If not, try and make it to the next one, I'll be going there too.

The struts are interchangable but this may depend on MY . I have a MY91 2.2 GX4WD legacy saloon with a set of impreza turbo shocks fitted . The springs are different .
If you happen to break a wing mirror you will find that an impreza one is identical and cheaper even though it has a different part no.

Thanks TURBO7379

I thought the suspension would be trickier, and as for the mirror - Why do manufacturers do that??!??

Squizz,

The Middle Bell is a pub in Barton-under-Needwood, just off the A38 between Lichfield and Burton. There was a scooby gathering there last week (check the midlands section), just thought you might have been there.

Hopefully someone will set a definate date for the next Worcester meet, and i'll see ya there.

James

Question

Another question for you (1992-94) Legacy turbo drivers...

What's the intercooler like? Is it air-cooled like the Impreza or water cooled? Only I've never seen under the bonnet, but have seen a small .jpg file. Just wondered if the air-intake was for show or not?

If it is air-cooled, could it be upgraded to a (probably) larger Impreza model one fairly easily?

Ta!

Squizz,

looks like the 27th is the date set for the next meet. Not sure where this other pub is, but will find it.

I'll try my best to get there, and you can have a good look at the Legacy then.
