Induction kits safe on MY00?
#1
I've got a MY00 turbo, at the moment it's standard but I want to fit a replacement exhaust and air. I have heard that induction kits can damage the MAF sensors on the late cars and I'm just after peoples experience / recomendations.
Thanks

Hi Rich.
MY00's do suffer from MAF failure when fitted with some aftermarket induction kits.
I know there have been problems with the following...
Pipercross
Blitz
HKS
I don't know of any failures with K&N, but that's not to say there aren't any.

RjH,
I'm in the same boat as you (i was looking at the blitz/k+n Induction kits)
The general concensous regarding failure was that it was due to excessive 'vibration' by the induction kit Not being secured to the vehicle bodywork.(like the std. Airbox).
Quite a few people have the mentioned i/kits fitted without problems and i think securing it would help prevent damage to the maff.
Hope this helps.

Fit ITG or (correctly oiled ) K&N panel filter and remove the resonator. Very cheap!
IMHO all the problems with failed MAF's are down to either vibration from poor mounting or contamination from over-oiling of the elements.
Richard
PS: Stef - the video was great thanks, but where's my £5 change?!
