Question

Does anyone have experience of the Prodrive Performance Pack on an MY00, I suffer from surging and poor performance and am wondering if this is a possible solution?

Is the difference dramatic, do you have problems with your insurance.

Does it cure MY00 surging problems ?

Just had this fitted a couple of weeks ago to my MY00. I've never suffered from surging particularly (at least not that I've noticed) and certainly not poor performance - with a P1 backbox and better air filter, it got 238bhp on the rollers. With the PPP, that rose to 254bhp, but that increase doesn't do it justice - torque is up 25-30lbft across 2800-5500rpm and power by around 20bhp across that. Fair chunk quicker, and makes a gorgeous sound

No problem with insurance with Barclays (Privilege) - covered under the "engine power increased by up to 10%" rule, which was about £50pa extra.

Apparently it doesn't cure the MY00 surging problem, if you have it.

Cheers
Richard

Dave, I do not know if you have done a search on google for Subaru hesitation but if you do you will find loads of references from all over the world about hesitation and surging. This has been discussed on the BBS a lot of times. According to an American chap one of the possible causes is an over sensitive knock sensor. This does not show up on the Select monitor. The surging/hesitation is supposed to be constant retarding and advancing of the ignition. I should push to get this checked out before you spend more money if you are not too happy.

I have just px MY00 with PPP and driving packaged for a P1.

I had the surging problem with the car the PPP is not the solution to your problem.

I had a standard ECU put back into my car after having the PPP. The performance is very poor to say the least.

£2000 for the extra performance is a small price to pay. The dyno test do not do the PPP justice.

ppp is very good. if u have scoobysport bb on your my00, the lack of noise with ppp is a little disapointing. the performance increase isnt
had surging in my old my00, ppp cured it for a while then it returned a few weeks later. car now sold.
if i did it all again? i would go unichip/link. that way you can still mod...which you WILL want to do eventually.

I've got PPP just recently installed & prior to & since I haven't noticed any surging. There are times when I feel that the response is a bit stuttery (both b4 & after) but no other probs. The performance increase is well worth the buck IMHPO.

Please also note that although I'm aware of a) rattling Ledas & b) bitey clutch when cold, I don't let it interfere with my pleasure of the car. Sometimes are we too picky?

Insurance increase was just under 10% - £40, but I am getting old & farty
