I have recently had a replacement Gearbox fitted to my 94 WRX.It has done 4000 miles with no probs, until yesterday when it decided that it wouldnt change gear any more. It will not go into gear with the engine on or off, and has a strange, gooey (sorry, not too technical) feel to it, not the metalic contact feel one would expect. When the engine is running, there is a banging noise from below, this stops when I depress the clutch. Does anyone have any ideas what may have gone wrong? Oh, there is plenty of Oil in the gearbox and it looked clean on the dipstick. Would just like some advice before I start arguing with the Garage and the warranty people! It was not making any noise before failure and the failure was not accompanied by any bangs, grinds or other noises. Just the "gooey, sticky feeling". Feels like someone has filled the gearbox with very sticky treacle!!!

Please help.

Thanks,

Peter.

Question

I had a problem with my 94WRX sometime ago when the clutch was replaced a locating pin on the clutch assembly moved/fell out during the rebuild. I was not able to select any gears after that. Naturally it was repaired very quickly by my dealer.
