Out in ny mates my96 turbo last night and it started whining slightly under hard acceleration in all the gears, didnt think that much of it but later when he tried to reverse it into his drive the wheels locked,it would only reverse under throttle, if you tried to freewheel in reverse with the clutch on the floor it would just judder to a halt.Is this a problem with the diff?
and if so is what can be done?

Just read in another forum that a rear diff costs £1800 pounds! my mate will be pleased.
