Question

Ive noticed recently that my engine is sounding a little bit noisier on tick-over, its a MY01 with 25k on the clock.
I brought the car 4 months ago with 23k on it from a main dealer, at this point the engine was really quiet.
ive noticed today that when the car is ticking over, if i press the clutcth pedal down it sounds noticeably quieter.
ive been told(by a friend) that it is my thrust or release bearing thats buggered.

Is it a problem or do they all do it?
Do i need to get it sorted?
Will it be covered under warranty?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

P.S ive checked all the oil/fluid levels(as i do regularly) and their o.k.

The clutch release bearing should not be engaged when the pedal is up.

When they are shagged they usually make most noise when the pedal is down & they are under load.

My classic makes a noise with the pedal out! Press it in and it goes away. In my old Escort days, it was the thrust bearing! **** easy on an Escort, doubt I'd have a go on a Scoob I'll put up with the noise or turn the radio up!

If the noise is there when you're sitting with the clutch engaged, but goes away when you disengage it, the likeliest cause is either noisy/worn/damaged gearbox input shaft bearings, or possibly damage somewhere on the gear cluster itself.
