Loyale crankcase ventitlation Problem - Help!
#1
I have a 1991 Loyale Wagon, 5 speed 4wd.
I just changed plugs and they all are burning great - the old plugs were perfect in color, a light tan.
Car normally performs nicely.
Problem! Every once in a while oil gets sucked up from valve covers in a big surge. Results in grey smoke, air intake sensor clogs with oil and car quits.
It restarts and is then ok to drive.
Why is my oil being sucked into the air intake only once in a while? Is it the Pcv valve?
I have 160,000 miles on the car, and minimal blowby.
I'm very frustrated and confused!
Please help
Tom

Probably the PCV-valve (positive crankcase ventilation) that is stuck. It's not an electrical valve, it works on the vacuum or sucking of the intake valve to close it.
It's somewhere near the carburettor (or throttle body in case of FI engine) on the rear right side of the intake manifold. Remove the clamp and the hose and use a 19mm spanner to remove the valve. Use brake cleaner or alike to clean in and out. When done valve should be rattling - showing it is now unstuck again.
Should be replaced every second service, but really no one bothers.
Good luck.
