Will a p1 backbox fit on a standard turbo exhaust system ?
I am in time going to get the decat centre pipe and downpipe aswell from scoobysport
Is the P1 backbox better than the standard one(sound quality)?

cheers

Yes it will fit, I've got one on a MY95 turbo. Exhaust mounts seem to be the same on all models.

At tickover it is very quiet but seems a little louder than the standard back box at higher revs.

What benefits do you want?

I went from standard exhaust to Magnex oval back box. This was really loud on my car for some reason and caused a lot of boom in the cabin. I changed it for the STI backbox which still looks okay but is much quieter.

The STI backbox isn't straight through, there is one chamber about 1/5 the length of the silencer, then a single tube leading to the tail pipe.

Performance wise there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference to be honest. If you want performance you'll be better getting the Scoobysport backbox then add the downpipe and centre section at a later date.

Hope this helps.

Forget the P1 back box and fit the Scoobysport version, if you want to get a performance edge, and the proper Scooby sound ! The P1 back box is very quiet, just like the standard twin pipe turbo. The P1 may have the larger tailpipe, but this reduces down into the silencer - the Scoobysport version has the same dia pipe right through. The extra burble is not a problem within the car - outside it sounds wonderful. It was the first thing I fitted to my P1 ! If you fit the decat Scoobysport downpipe in time, you will get a bigger performance boost, but the noise is much increased - more tiring on a long run ? So what, I hear you say ! It depends what you want, I guess.
Cheers
Greg
