Downpipe questions......
#1
Just bought Gary Chaplin's Falkland Performance (fully lagged) downpipe and have a few questions for those in the know....
I understand it will be a bit noisier ( I already have a Scoobysport backbox ) but will it still be within the noise limits on trackdays ?
Will the car pass the emissions test part of the MOT ? I still have the standard catted centre section.
How long / how much to fit ?
Many thanks in advance.
Tony

The first time I fitted a downpipe it took me and the old man 2 days to do , the second time it took me 2 hours (all the nuts and bolts where quite free) , Scoobysport fitted one for me in 1.5 hours . Al depends on how rusty the fixing nuts and bolts are .
As for the emissions , it would appear that the car will pass if you keep the centre cat in .
Hope this helps Dave

I speak from some knowledge
Noise will still pass track day testing, both at Oulton Park and Knockhill I was well under the limit, and that was with a straight through centre as well Oulton was with the SS backbox
Fitting time, It took my dealer three hours to do a service, fit new front pads and fit the downpipe - so 1 - 1.5hrs max? Local garage (Naylors) refitted standard frontpipe in c20 mins - it's only 7 bolts
MOT - dunno, I have heard of cars passing on centre alone, but it needs to be hot - I know of an accomodating place near me that will check emissions straight away to allow for a hot cat
Have fun
PS did you purposefully blast away on Sunday just to 'rub it in?
