check engine
#1
Help. Just got my car back from a service centre, with a 60,000 mile service and a new clutch. Ten miles later, approaching a junction the engine cuts as I stop and a few seconds later the CHECK ENGINE light comes on.
This is the first time this has ever happened. All fluids OK, no wiring appears to be loose and engine is running fine. There is a small blow in the exhaust, but i doubt that would be it.
Big plans tomorrow, so I need to get it sorted right away. Any ideas.
Cheers

Wouldn't worry to much about the check engine light, if the engine stops for any reason at all it will come on, even if you stall it.
Doesn't help you find the cause of it stopping though, sorry.

Thanks, Lee, but I wasn't quite clear in the first post. The light is now staying on. I bought second hand and have no English handbook, so I can't check what this means.
Any ideas anyone? Does the handbook say to ckeck anything when the Check Engine light stays on?

you need to get a select monitor onto it and see what error code shows up. Maybe a faulty MAF sensor but really could be a lot more things too. You can also do a self diagnostic by connecting the terminals on under the dash. Mail me if you need help with doing this.
