Best Back Box?
#1
Apologies for what I am sure is a much talked about topic, but being new to this here goes.
I bought a P1 in December, which had a Prodrive back box fitted. Since then I have fitted a Group A down pipe, and will soon be fitting a de-cat centre section.
Therefore, what B/B will add to the already great sound being produced, and add any additional power?.
So far people have mentioned those supplied by Scoobysport, Scoobymania, Magnex, HKS etc, but I really don't know which to go for. Will a different B/B actually add anything at all?
Any assistance will be appreciated.

Simon,
IMHO choice of backbox is a personal one. some love the sound of a scoobysport one, others the prodrive one, others magnex etc etc.
As far as extra power, then they are pretty much of a muchness. Your best bet is, to go to meet and listen to the various types and decide which one you prefer.
My personal choice is the prodrive one(comes as part of the Prodrive performance pack) because it's not TOO loud but still gives enough noise to make it sound as though the afterburners on. For me, the scoobysport one is TOO loud but for others it's the #1 choice.
Hope this helps.

I've got a Scooby Sport back box on my otherwise unmodded UK MY00 Impreza turbo.
I love it!
Assuming Neil is correct about extra power being much of a muchness, it seems doubtful that you will find yourself in a truly objective position to choose between backboxes - for sound quality anyway.
Imagine - a collection of P1's lined up before you, each setup the same as yours, but with different backboxes for you to listen to the differences in tone and volume!
- not likely
Possible options:
1. Stick with your Prodrive exhaust.
Must be pretty good anyway, and it'll be fully backed up warranty wise.
2. Take a chance and pick an alternative - I'll recommend the Scooby Sport one.
3. If you've got loads of money, buy 'em all, try 'em out! Then you can write up a definitive guide for the next person who asks this question.
Probably more drivel than help...

A friend of mine recently purchased a 2nd
hand mongoose system from the local subaru
dealer for his terzo. He bought it for 250+50
pounds fitting. I drove it last saturday .
The biggest difference compared to my 97 scooby is once it is at the magic 3000rpm, the turbo seems to spin a lot quicker. As for loudness it was more meaty than loud.
The exhaust in question included the d/pipe.
Does anyone know what is included in the ppp?
I phoned the dealer but the sales dept seemed
a little unsure about it. All he said was an uprated ecu with a stainless exhaust system and he was'nt sure if the 2k price included fitting. In the end of the day is 2k really
worth it?,appart from keeping the warranty.
I will eventually change my standard exhaust
but I can't help but think on what to expect from other systems such as s/s,blitz or hks.
