Hey guys...long time no speak. Hope everything is weel over there. Well, the motor swap is now completed, and the car is nearly ready to be delivered back to me after several months. For thos ethat don't know, I swapped in a complete STi V4 motor/ecu/wiring harness in place of the EJ25 with turbo kit I was running.

Here is the problme: the ecu apparantly comes fitted with an immobilizer. As a result the car cranks, but does not start I guess it cuts fuel pump off?) Anyway, we have tried grounding it out, etc, but nothing has wored. How can I disable the immobilizer? I have no idea what kind it is, but I think it is a seperate little box adjacent to the ecu. Is there a way to get rid of it? We are totally stumped!!! Thanks!

Hi Adam,

The STI ECU's dont have an imobiliser as far as I know. There shouldnt be any box next to the ECU (unless its aftermarket/added on)

If you are stumped.. let me know and I'll send you over an STI IV ECU

J.

My understanding is that it is an aftermarket piece. I purchased the motor from a very reputable shop in Australia. Seems these immobilizers are quite common. The shop here doing the work has been in communication with the people in Oz, but I have ot yet heard of any success in solving the problem.

J - as for your STi 4 ecu, is it a spare? I know you have/had many other ecu's (Fcon, Tec2, Link, and a few others I may have missed!), but if you could part with it, I would galdly accept it, and send you the ecu that is in the car now (with immobilizer) back to you...maybe you could figure it out and get it to work.

Let me know..I'll be online most of tonight (it's only 4 pm now)

thanks again

BTW, how is the Legacy coming along? Is it with you in the UK? Running?

I'm here...

Sorry forgot about this thread... lol

Its not exacty spare.. I like to keep hold of at least one of everything...

But I can send it over for you to try.. I dont use it... that way you can tell if its the ECU or not..if it does solve it, we can take it from there..

J.
