Question

Need your help.
I'm changing the rear diff on my car to a 4.11 unit along with the main gearbox. My problem is removing the rear diff. I can't get the half shafts out. there are NO roll pins in the green CV joint housing, and the CV will NOT come free of the diff itself. I have removed the rear hub/transverse link bolt, the very long one, to allow me to pull the halfshaft out but this comes to a solid sounding thud when pulled. The only thing I can think of is on my year of car (MY 97)you have to take the side flanges off each side of the diff but this means disturbing gaskets etc.

Am I missing a trick here?

PLEASE help!
Graham.

I think the rears have a stub shaft on the cv join that must be pulled out the diff. Probably held in by a spring clip so it will need a firm pull to remove.

Cool

Thanks Paul, I knew the Scooby regular's would help me. Andy F said just the same. Must need quite a hard push as I've prised the CV as hard as I thought safe. Must try harder...
Regards, Graham.
