i am in the process of ordering a new system for the car. i am torn between the straight through centre pipe and the resonator option to keep the noise down a bit. i have been informed that there is no difference in flow/power.

can someone confirm this for me?

I've got one with a resonator...and its the same bore straight through, so there isn't really any restriction. I suppose the holes in the baffling may take off 0.0001bhp when compared to the pipe without the resonator box
