Just to let you know that as an owner of a car with BPM downpipe and HKS Hiper system that is very noisy, help is at hand.

You can purchase a baffle/noise trap for around £25 from HKS suppliers.

This fits in the rear megaphone (sorry tailpipe) and creates a small expansion chamber in the tailpipe and makes a huge contribution to noise reduction. Not as rich a symphony, but much more bearable for you neighbours, on track (I was 105db) and certainly on the motorway.

There is a straight through pipe in the baffle that looks rather smaller than the 12cm tailpipe - but this exactly matches the exit pipe from the rear silencer.

Also, after datalogging, the car seemed to be running almost the same to if there is a reduction in power it is less than 2-3bhp.

One downside is that it looks cack.

R - I can hear

Well, I *used* to think I had a hiper system, but it's apparently a Apex (or Apexi) N1 system. Regardless it's bloody loud, so I know how you feel.

I also could get a silencer for the system, and I am tempted to do so, but I like scaring the bejesus out of small kids, animals, old people, young people.........

Seriously though, I'm considering it as the beast is a tad loud. Can't wait until I get it on track as I though some of the cars a BH in october were a bit on the quiet side

huh? who said that

Some were quiet.

Mine is 'KIN loud.

I dont care, I said I dont care !!

Just turn the wireless up a bit more, put your foot down a bit more and visit every multistory car park you can find.

Best alarm set off is 6 on the same floor at times2 car park in Sutton surrey.

Barge,

my rationale is practical - I was kicked off a track for being too noisy.

I need the choice - BUT the noise reduction kit doesn't seem to cost much if any power at all.

I can still set alarms off tho'

rannoch:
which track?
Reason I ask is that I know tracks do have a dB limit and whilst at brands I thought that the beast would be said to be too loud.

Chris.
I was also on the pit wall, there was someone with a Hiper/Super drager which was quite loud, forgot about that one! Maybe it's just my perception (maybe slight deafness ) but they did not sound *too* loud. Guess we'll find out one day.
Oh, and loudness was made up by Dom sticking the RB5 into third before the corner at the end of the start/finish straight. What a wonderful noise. The blackbeast would probably cough, splutter, and chuck gear cogs over the track if I tried it

Castle Combe measured 105db. 100 limit.

No problem at Donington tho' they are more practical!
