Prodrive Cold Air Box-Specification?
#1
Guys
As I live in far away Singapore, we don't get access to the premium Prodrive stuff easily.
There is a local tuner that sells a Cold air box (to replace the resonator box) and he claims it's similar in design to that used by prodrive.
However, I notice that there are no drain holes at the base like the Jap ones I've seen. The local tuner assures me that there is no way water will get in by way of design. But I can't help thinking the force indcution will somehow convery the cold air box into a straw in the wet.
Can someone please enlighten me if the prodrive cold air box has drain holes? A picture would be most useful.
Thanks

Cold air ducts are also available from Australia. They are very common in Australia for Tuning Imprezas and give about +2bhp!
In UK they don't use these ducts, don't know why.

We never have done any cold air ducts for road cars. We did test an induction kit and found less power up to 6000 rpm, 3 more at 6500 and 7 at 6999 rpm on a 96MY car but with totally unacceptable noise levels. We also found that the air going into the filter was 2 degrees over a 21 degree ambient without any cold air ducting in brisk on boost driving.

Pete,
maybe you should try.....the colder the better (of course only for power of the car.....).
I think a K&N panel filter and a cold air duct should give around 2 bhp! But the problem is with this cold air duct, that you suck dirt and maybe water into the airbox......
Yes, I think in UK you cannot use a water spray.......it's always raining anyway!
greetings
ric from Switzerland (our wetter is not better.....maybe I should move to California, but OHHHHH, there are no Scooby Turbos!!!!!!)
