I`m soon to change the clutch and was wondering wether the AP and Helix kits are too on/off for normal driving should I stick with a standard replacement?

I have an AP Sprung Paddle ~ its a bit "grabby" and isn't as easy as a std clutch to get a smooth start. But that could be cos my flywheel is sh@gged.

The feel of the clutch isn't that much different....just a bit heavier.

I thought it was worth it, and am on my second.

Unless you are running very high torque figures, avoid a paddle clutch for road use. They are designed NOT to slip at all. This includes pulling away from traffic lights.

I have a Helix paddle in my track/rally car and do use the car occasionally on the road. The Helix paddle is quite friendly, in fact more usable on the road than the standard 22B clutch. That said, it still catches me out now and then.

Both the Helix and AP organic clutches are very good and your choice will probably be guided by the preference of the installer you use.

You will need to add £60 + vat to the cost of an AP, as this does not come with new release bearing. And always get the flywheel skimmed or the new clutch may judder.
