Question

Can anyone tell me what the sound and performance differences there are between these 3 exhaust systems. I would like to fit 1 to my 97 WRX. Don't know which way to turn.
Are there issues with downpipe changing and MOT etc?

ello again gavin

right from my experience i found the following :-

scoobysport - better downpipe - albeit a quieter one. Middle and back box too quiet for my liking, plenty of folks using them and happy tho, ss mid + rear showed no extra performance gains on my car over my hks mid and rear, only the SS downpipe showed itself to be better.

hks - noisier than the above if mated to hks downpipe. Only cos its a noisy downpipe tho. super dragger a similar noise to ss mid + rear. hyper muffler is louder than both of the above.

Blitz - damn noisy - want one!

performance gains there was very little in it between SS and HKS mid + rear sections, only the SS downpipe made a difference (to both).

Changing your exhaust for full system will mean fun and games at mot times as you will be running without a cat, so you either put the standard one back for the mot, or you find a friendly garage that knows you have the standard system at home but they wont insist you fit it - if you catch my drift

There is an emerging view that Scoobysport DP plus HKS Hiper mid and rear gives the best combination of gas flow and torque. It is noisy tho - the Hiper drones on a bit.

You can get combinations that will give more at the top end - but less fun on road.

My experience of Blitz is that they make even the Hiper seem quiet!!!!

Personally I have HKS Hiper and am waiting for the combination to be tried (imminently) to decide whether to get standard or 3in SS DP.

Get yourself to a meet if possible to hear them. I found the two HKS systems a bit too loud for me and the Scoobysport one was spot on. Not heard the Blitz one close up so can't comment on that
