Hi,

Just got myself a 95 WRX and everything on it seems to be modified apart from the clutch which seems to slip a bit, I think due to the power going through it. I was warned about this before so I think I may have to invest in a performance clutch. Any recommendations and ideas of where and how much I can get one from?

Thanks in advance

Andy

I have an AP clutch, costs about £400 plus fitting and any AP dealer will sell them.

I have recently had a black diamond fitted to my wrx type RA. it cost £250 and came with thrust bearing, clutch plate, and spring ,Apparently its 30% uprated but the feel of the pedal is the same as the old one. I've no complaints but it was quite stiff and noisey for the first hundred miles. A local clutch centre fitted itfor £150, it took them four hours. Oh and I bought it from revolution in gateshead 0191 477 0785

Actually the AP clutch was recommended to me by a friend, I'm going to sound stupid now, but are both of these good enough to handle the modifications (i.e. 305 bhp)?

I tried to see what would happen if I hammered it from a standing start (as you do when youre trying to see what your car can do) and the clutch basically wouldn't put the car into gear until I took my foot of the throttle. I take it these are correct symptoms for too much power for not good enough clutch??

Also do you have any part numbers for either of these clutches?

Regards

Andy

305bhp has been quoted to me by my importer, I must test it somehow.... I have no reason not to believe him but it would be interesting in seeing it!!

Anyway it has an aftermarket exhaust, air filters etc (all jap stuff) and I'm pretty sure the turbo boost has been pushed up to max.

I'm no engineer, but it is way faster than the RB5 that I used to have!!

Andy,

The performance of a clutch is how much torque it can handle not how much bhp...

Most std clutch's will slip even on std cars,Subaru's thinking is that it's cheaper to change a clutch than a gearbox..

If you want a second opnion of your cars bhp bring round to me

Jon
