Back Box.
Me again,
Having been to the Guildford meet and seen and heard a selection of exhausts (dribble)
, I'm thinking of going Scooby Sport DP and either their straight through centre section or the Magnex Center.Would the standard rear box be up to handling the extra oomph or would it be blown to bits?
If it is up to it, would I lose the lovely pops and bangs at 2k rpm that I had demonstated to me? (Sorry I can't remember your name. I can be quite bad at remembering them. No offence intended.)
Thanks for any words of wisdom.
Regards,
P.
If you are planning to change the downpipe and centre section for more free-flowing items, you will not get the best out of them if you keep the standard backbox.
Said backbox is very restrictive (especially at high revs)... the gains from improved breathing with the downpipe and centre section will not be as great as if you change the backbox for a more free-flowing one too. Hence the increase in power (as well as the nice soundtrack
) will not be as good if you keep the standard backbox.

So what's the consensus of opinion regarding the best exhaust system to fit on a road legal(cat fitted)scooby MY99 then,as yet mine is standard as new due to hole in pocket buying car!...would also fit improved breathing....any suggestions....sorry if old news to you all!!!!!....I like the sound of the Scoobysport system..or Magnex...

Largely comes down to what you want to spend and how 'legal' you want to stay. You say you've got an MY99 so there are warranty issues to consider as well.
Do a search on the topic as an awful lot has be written about this. If you want to stay legal then this means that you can't remove the cat. I would get yourself along to a local meet and have a listen - I was at the Guildford meet and I heard some great cars (sounded like they'd just come off a special stage!).
Personally I run a Magnex backbox and K+N panel filter (with the resonator off if I want a bit more noise). This sounds good without being too intrusive (the Scooby is my everyday car and does a 50 mile commute most of the time). Set yourself a budget and go from there, the problem is that you can ask 12 different people and get 12 different answers
Cheers

No pictures at the moment - haven't got round to getting one of these new digital cameras yet. The best I do can is a picture on Magnex's site (it shows a 22B, but you get the idea) -
