Question

I know that this has been the subject of many a posting before, but i have a question.

I have an STi II that has been run on 95 RON But is now running on SUL and Millers Octaine Plus

I read that one way to "safely" reset the ECU was to disconect the battery. So i tried this, and left the battery disconected overnight. I have noticed absolutley no difference Are you SURE that this works?? If when the reset is done via the wire method (as per MRT instructions) the Engine light flashes to confirm reset, why does this not happen when the battery is re-connected.

Hope someone can answer this

Ian.

Ian,

Your ECU will take time to adjust it's parameters to relearn it's new environment. My car tool a tankfull or two before any improvements were noticed.

Have fun!

Thumbs up

...however if you reset an STi, unless you are running 100-104 RON fuel it will typically run like a dog for the first few miles until the ignition retards to cope with UK SUL (and OB).

The wire method is definately best and if you are running 100RON fuel the car will feel fine and strong - do that for a couple of tanks and then go back to 95RON
