Rear Diffs?
What's the gen with the diffs you can get for new age? I know of the quaife rear diff that sorts torque steer, but is there better at reasonable price. What does the STi7/8 run and is the spec C different again?
Cheers Jim...whats the difference in them though...what does the P18 do that the std WRx diff doesn't. Mine does need changing for something better as I've had it snake up the road a few times (even in the dry!) and it's almost dangerous in the wet when boost applied.
Better change both front and rear diffs with Quife ATB units as have informed that STI "Suretracks" front/rear do not fit - unfortunately - on WRXs!
The Quaife diff is more "fluid" and transfers torque constantly and smoothly while STI is more "sudden" in torque distribution, on the other hand if one wheel is on the air Quaife can't transfer torque to the other and the axle is without power(if you ask "offroaders" with rear LSD when they loose completely traction they apply slightly brake and throttle together to increase torque transfer).
The Quaife transfers 4 times(or 5 can't remember) the torque of the spinning whell to the other wheel of the same axle thus if there is no traction in one it transfers 0x4=Zero power to the other ...!
I've drive a friend's WRX01 with Quaife rear ATB and believe me it's amazing in every day conditions, slipery roads etc(we have alot of these here in Greece, you know
) but when one rear wheel is on the air the car is like FWD and wonder what effect has this on center factory viscous unit, I suggest him to buy also the front Quaife ATB.
I am not expert on diffs but this is my little experience, if you find any Suretracks that fit on WRXs I am curious also how they drive!

Cheers Jim...
So in real terms the Suretrack is better or inline with Quaife. I've heard a few comments on the rear diff and know it's ace on the road - I'll never be taking her off road for sure! I also like the thought that it's all gears, and will handle the 450bhp I'm looking to put through the engine once I've fitted water injection. Oh, I've also been told I can fit the STI7 6 speed gearbox and drive shaft to the engine, clutch and std rear diff...
Do you know of a website for suretrack kit or is it just a prodrive item?
