My clutch is definately on the way out (MY94 UK). Whats the best advice i.e.
Original Subaru parts or upgrade?
Best place to get work done (quality job vs price)?
What sort of money are we looking at here?
I'm in Aylesbury, Bucks.

whatever you do, dont leave it too long, especially if its slipping as it will cause heat cracks in the flywheel, creating yet bigger bill at the end of the day. Gen parts and labour wont see short end of around 600 [fitted], and that's without flywheel, which can be another 250 on top of parts price.

Wheelman, I'm no expert on the earlier Imprezas, but I suspect I'm right in thinking that it'll accept the same clutches as the later cars (I'm sure someone will chime in to confirm/deny this!).
If this is the case, you'll have a hard job getting a better deal than the Borg & Beck complete clutch unit which Autospares sell for around £94 plus VAT delivered. All you'll need then is a local specialist to fit it, unless you're up for a bit of DIY.
