Question

I was nosing around in the Blitz web site and noticed their ECU upgrade at £400 (+VAT I presume). This looks interesting as a next mod (MY98) but I wonder if anybody has any experience of it or can comment on it? Thanks for any info.

Raymond.

Cool

Raymond,

For ~50 extra notes (IIRC), you can have a custom mapped unichip piggyback ecu fitted and mapped at powerstation... this is setup specifically for your own car, taking advantage of any other mods or ability your engine exhibits. The Blitz chip will be setup to run on many different cars, so it won't be able to offer as much in the way of performance increase without risking many cars health, if you see what I mean.

Moray,

I see what you mean but one of the attractions of the Blitz is that I have two dealers within 100 miles (Falkland and Greersport) whereas Powerstation is 300 miles away so you can see the attraction. Falkland also supply Superchips, which I am not keen on, hence my interest in the Blitz and trying to find out if anybody has had any experience of it. I understand that the set up may not be exactly optimum but is it an improvement and are there any snags? Cheers.

Raymond.

Gavin,

Thanks for your reply but I'm not sure what you mean. I was looking at the Blitz site - are you saying that the chip is made by ChipTorque for Blitz or are dealers selling the ChipTorque as a Blitz, which sounds faintly illegal to me? Thanks.

Gavin,

Thanks - plenty to think about there and I think that you have already convinced me that Link or Unichip is the way to go and probably saved me a pile of cash and a lot of hassle in the long run. Your help is much appreciated.
