I keep hearing this metall sound on high rpm (around 5000-6000). It sounds like a metall rattling noise. Now I'm seriously confused what this is... a heatshield or a dettonation. The ecu doesn't lower the boost which is a sign of no knock.
What can the knock experts say on this one?

well, first of all dont keep trying to thrash the car to hear it. Use your common sense and book it in at a specialist who can listen for the noise with "det cans" on or investigate the exhaust. Chances are if youve heard the pinking it would have done major damage and blown your engine by now BUT IT HASNT so get it checked out and take care!

The only way to know would be to run with det cans...

...it may be mechanical...it may be detonation and a broken knock sensor (or circuit), however if this were the case you would probably get a Check Engine light flashing (for the circuit problem, not the knock itself).

If it is audible in the car at 5000rpm plus then if it is knock it is very, very severe.

Cheers,

R

Thanks a lot guys. I think I'll take it to the dealer to get inspected.
