If I replaced my standard UK MY00 twin exhausts with an STi one, would I get a bit more 'engine' roar/noise, without sounding too 'Max Power'?
I see from some other threads that I also may get a slight performance increase.

I dont think so. Many STi owners change their exhaust as the stock is really quite quiet and still fairly restrictive.

 

Mine went into Scoobysport's skip when I upgraded - very quiet and restrictive. The only think nice about them is the STi logo stamped into the tailpipe

 

The ONLY difference between a UK box and an STi one is the single tailpipe instead of a double one...

The STi one is VERY slightly louder but has no performance gain at all.

Other than that they are EXACTLY the same...
