Mix 'n' match exhaust query
#1
I've a MY00 classic turbo and I've just fitted a decat centre off a classic STI and a back box off a bug eyed STI. Sounds slightly better than standard and has a bit more low-down grunt. However:
1) Will I have problems with the O2 sensor now I've no centre cat?
2) The forward single hanger on the back box didn't mate with its support so will I have problems with the exhaust being less than fully supported?
3) Should I be aware of anything else that I haven't thought about?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Pete

Hmmm. Thanks for the reply. Not quite all the answers I was hoping for or maybe it gives me an excuse to get things done properly once the Winter is over!
Showing my total ignorance here...
Where does the O2 sensor sit then and why is not affected by the centre cat disappearing?
Should I be concerned about the effects of a decat centre on the Turbo?

O2 sensor sits in the downpipe before the first cat, so is unaffected by removing either cat, the decat centre will give you no probs whatsoever, the P1 doesn't have one fitted as standard

Thanks for the replies. I feel a wee bit happier.
Slightly mistified though, Big Goon, since I had a front hanger on the original back box but it curved the other way round the pipe compared to the new box so the new one doesn't reach across to the rubber bung on the underside of the car.
I keep thinking if anything lets go it's going to be the leading edge of the back box and it'll dig into the road and knacker the back bumper (and probably a few other bits)!
