To anyone who has wrapped their manifold and up-pipe on a classic model (with bonnet vents!) does the heat wrap bandage get soaking wet when the car has been stood in the rain?? Mine does, and when you start the engine, it steams like a b+st+rd!
This then causes everything to condensate under the bonnet, which in turn leads to rusty bolts, and furry aluminium (oo err!!)
.
What has anyone done to combat this, as the drain on the vent cover drips directly between the inner wing, and the right hand cylinder head??
Cheers, Pickle

Yes, mine do steam just as you describe. I wouldn't worry about it, tbh. The steam dissipates quickly enough, especially if you're driving. I don't think there would be any adverse effects on other components (rusting etc).

No I haven't! Won't painting them make the Wrap brittle?? What colour is the paint available in and where from??? Just bugging me cos the car gets left stood for days at a time, and they get soaked through!
