Hi,

I have a 95 wrx (PE1, leglis-r exhaust, evo dump valve, k&n cone).

I have been hearing that 'oil' based air filters are bad news for the air flow meter.

Should I change it for the Blitz filter?

cheers,

Mark

As far as I know, the K&N filters are not oil based, so that shouldn't be a problem.

K&N filters are fine as long as you dont overoil them. I always use K&N, i think they are the best available, just stick to manufacturers guidlines.

If you want the ultimate in flow and filter life, you can't beat the Blitz cone filters. Made of stainless steel mesh they don't need any oil at all and will last forever (so the theory goes). Also make a very pleasing sound (but then I guess most induction kits would). Unfortunatley they aren't exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

As for the K&N, I've yet to use on on a Scoob so can't comment on its effectiveness.

Cheers,

Pat.

Have no fears.

There has been more hype about oil based filters than there was about Y2K bringing the world to a halt and causing planes to fall out of the sky.

As far as Subaru UK are concerned, the ONLY approved aftermarket filter for a UK car is a Ramair... and this is the most heavily oiled of the the lot.

There is almost no difference in pressure drop between all filters, when brand spanking new, but the foam ones out perform everything else over time and filter to sub 10 microns.
