Question

I have an STi 5, with SS downpipe, mid section and backbox. Also a K&N panel filter.
Would uprating the dump valve help? If so does anyone know of the likely changes to performance and the best one to fit?

Regards,

Tim

Cool

Nope...

Dump valves dont increase performance... they extend the life of the turbo... thats about it

The Ver V is good anyway

Howdy...

I have had a close look at the knackered turbo.. and I am sure something has got in and hit the compressor wheel... but **** knows how...

The angle of the shaft in relation to the blade, points to this.... I cant see how a bearing failure could have caused the damage..

I have my new turbo here...and am just waiting for some new hi-torque clamps to arrive...any hour now.... once they are here the car will be back on the road..

Takes just under an hour to change the turbo

The fuelling was sorted at donington.. but I will re-adjust it with my new turbo...and reset all the boost settings..

Hi J,

Not that I disagree with your BOVs don't increase performance statement in general, ...BUT... I have an STI 3 and it is leaking boost through it's standard plastic BOV. If I uprate the BOV, it will not leak boost, so the engine will be able to hold boost correctly, so the performance will increase...

(This is only the case with 97 cars.)

Moray (Never one to be contrary!)
