Question

Will soon be fitting a full RA transmission to my STI. Question:

I will drain the old oils out of the box/diffs etc to be filled with motorsport quality oil. How, ie with what, do I clean out the residue of the oil before filling with fresh higher grade oil?
Years ago people used flushing oil on engine changes, is thete a simila thing for cleaning boxes out?
I just don't want to contaminate the good with the old.

Any thoughts?
Graham

What about dumpin a gallon of petrol in the box, shakin it a bit, and then let it drain for a good few days, that oughta work!

Can't help with your question, other than to suggest using an extra 2l or so of the oil you're planning on filling up with.

Are you going with Castol Syntrax?

Thanks Ian, will see you at 10 tomorrow, gales, monsoons and flying trees permitting...what a day to come to Wales!
As to which competition spec oil to use, I'm not sure as the chioce is huge, but I'm told the Red Impact oils are good?
Thanks guys, Graham.
