Sorry, but if Nick (Chiark) can do it, then most people can. (sorry Nick) It IS an idiots guide and is very helpfull.

Tip would be to print all the sections off, then go look at the car.

Cool

I had my oil temperate probe in my sump bolt to start with, but this gives a false reading due to wind chill. I found it dropped 10 deg. when going down the motorway.

Fitted the probe in the correct place, there is already a blanking plug near cylinder 3 (i think) and it holds a constant temperature now.

Do it right the first time

The cylinder 3 thing is not too difficult, but you need an adaptor to screw into it in order to take the sender. Mine came from the same place that sold me the gauges, Scoobymania.

You'll need to remove the intercooler to get at the tapping, and it has a blanking plug in it which is VERY tight. It's got an M8 hex socket in the top.
I bought the longest M8 hex wrench I could find, cost me about £8, it's ball ended, and has a T-bar top, it got the plug out OK.

Wrap about 4 or 5 turns of PTFE tape around the adaptor, and screw it in hand tight, then tighten, but not too much, with a socket.

In order to start mine in the threads, I poked a plastic pen into the threads in it, and half screwed the pen in, just until the adaptor doesn't fall off. You can't get your fingers in to do it otherwise.
Once it's in, wrap PTFE tape round sender, and screw that in too.

Oil pressure is just a case of undoing the alternator after marking it, and swinging it out of the way.

Nick's site is pretty helpful, really.
