Misfire/Flat spot
#1
Ive got a 1993 WRX which has developed what can best be described as a flat spot or a misfire on certain occassions at about 4500-5000 rpm. Has anyone encountered this before, plugs?, leads?, The result is very poor performance at the bottom end aswell, please help!!

Hi,
A common fault is to do with the electrics.
If you have a poor spark them the car wont pull so hard.
Several people have had problems with the coil pack.
You could check you plugs (takes about 30mins to take them out)and check your leads.
Cheerio,
J.

Sounds very much like coil packs or plugs.
Check the plugs, gaps should be 0.7 / 0.8 mm if NGK Platinum plugs are fitted (PFR????)
Check plug condition, if tip insulation is sooty / discoloured then that plug wll have been mis-firing.
Coil packs are about £47 each plus vat.
Try closing plug gaps to 0.6 mm if they are gapped correctly. If this improves things then change the coil packs.
