I have a 99T Impreza turbo with 45000mls on the clock and i am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and if anybody can recomended anywhere in the cheshire area to get it sorted.

 

Does it jump out of 5th as well?, If so, its the locking nut on the rear of the output shaft come loose. Not much to fix if it is this, only a hours work at most, can be done with box still in car.

I get the same problem (45K S plate) if I 'hurry' the gearchange at high revs; It doesn't jump out of gear though. My clutch is on the way out, is this connected?

 

If its not jumping out of gear, try just changing the oil for Silkolene (sp?) as this has been known to 'fix' numerous gearbox troubles. Fixed mine
