I bought a MY00 Impreza at the weekend and I also got an aftermarket exhuast with it (think its magnex or summat).

Anyway, I'd quite like to get it fitted but am not sure where to go with it. I would take it to the local tyre and exhaust centre but I'm a bit worried about giving my car to them. I don't fancy them having a quick joyride in it or doing a bodge job. I've never had cause to be worried about them in the past but I've never spent this much money on a car before so am a bit paranoid at the mo.

Just go down and they'll fit it while you wait. As long as you are not fitting a downpipe, it will only take 20 minutes at most. It's very easy if you have your own tools too

At the risk of sounding mechanically inept, which bit is the down pipe The exhaust is "Turbo back" so I guess that includes the down pipe? kind of L shaped with a smaller diameter pipe (bout 10 inches long)coming off the turbo end into the main pipe. Has a hole on the side near the turbo for a sensor of some sort?

How does this make the job harder?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the downpipe to me The hole is for the Lambda sensor. This changes things as there are often seized bolt related issues when changing the downpipe. If i was you i would locate my nearest Scoob specialist and let them sort it - it is one job i wouldn't let my local grease monkey look after. Being in west Wales may mean a bit of a trip for you, but IMO is deffo worth it for piece of mind. I would imagine you could be looking at £50+ for fitting
You can expect a 20+ bhp increase if not more, once the deed is done
