Ok, so my first niggle with the impreza...

I was pulling out from stationary into a junction, and I was in first obviously. Anyway, halfway out there was this really loud bang from the rear of the car (or atleast it sounded like from there), and then the gear jumped into neutral (wasn't a banzai type of start, but it wasn't a real soft one either)...

Now, I've been at the dealers before complaining that the gearbox is sometimes hard to get into second (need to double clutch, but only sometimes), but the techie said it felt fine...

The gearbox still goes into first, and it's been fine since starting from stationary (Haven't really pushed it tho)...

What do you guys think it is? Should I be really worried and thank the Creator I didn't install a TSL Firestorm?

Could of been first gear was only "half engaged" when it happened, I'm not saying you had not selected properly, but I'd still get it back to the dealer and if no joy, phone Subaru UK and get them to send an engineer out to the dealer and get him to drive it. But try the dealer first, then use this as back up plan!
The bang was the drivetrain releasing the torque loading as the drive disengaged.
