Exclamation

Ok got a bit of a dilema here peebs.
Everything on the car is now starting to come together, with an end result that the STi clutch I`m running is now longer up2 the job (at 3800rpm in 4th with the volume peddle to the floor she jumps to 7300 and bounces off the limiter without an equal climb in speed ) So the question is this :
If is it possible to fit a new helix updrated pressure plate (the 360lbft one) whilst using the original pressure cover from the STi clutch ? And if so are there likely to be any problems arise from this ?
This was an unexpected side effect so obviously I`m trying to keep the cost down so I`d hate to have to shell out the £300 for a cover as well if its not needed

ANybody got any experience of this ? Advise etc ?

Cheers
Pete

I take it you want to know which clutch plate you can fit under your cover.

there was also a group buy thread by poc that had some good info.

I have decided that when I change my clutch I am going to see what blue print can offer and take a chance on them.

Some good info there m8
Thing being though, I`ve commited to the Helix plate
As they guarantee the plate when matched with "their" cover is good for 360 Lbft. So for the little bit extra i bought the helix plate, but wasn`t prepared 2 shell out the dougnuts for the cover.

Cool

Can't help but feel you are heading for trouble!
The clutch will have max bite and clamp force if all the mating surfaces are smooth and fresh. What you are going to do is mate a fresh plate onto a worn flywheel and cover plate, the new part will be riding on the high spots of the old surfaces. It is the same with brakes, fresh discs and pads = max stopping power when fully bedded-in. Clutch the same!
