noisy pump

Hi all, got a MY97 turbo and have just located a noisy pump for the air/vacuum bits and wastegate valve. Is quite noisy first thing then noise dissapears as car warms up. Is it going to cause problems if it fails, and any idea how much? Many thanks, matti.
